A Culinary Journey: My Passion for Baking and the Perfect Bun
Buns, bread, and burgers—my love for baking knows no bounds.
Holy moly, I have a confession to make—I'm absolutely obsessed with baking! There's something incredibly satisfying about working with flours, playing with fermentations, and achieving the perfect maturation. For me, baking is more than just cooking; it’s a release, a way to unwind from the stress of work and daily life.
I find joy in creating bread, buns, and pizzas, and there are a couple of hidden gems on this website dedicated to pizzas and hamburgers. Today, though, I want to tell you about my journey with hamburgers. Now, I call them "hamburgers" but that name doesn't do them justice. These are not just burgers—they are culinary adventures, packed with flavor and love, which I proudly share with my family and friends.
I’ve been making buns for a few years now, and it took some time to strike the perfect balance of flavors and textures. You can see the results in the photos—light, fluffy buns and their darker, richer counterparts. But buns are just the beginning. Inside my burgers, you’ll often find tender, mouthwatering pulled pork that’s been slow-cooked for eight hours, or caramelized onions that add a sweet, savory contrast.
Now, I’m excited to share my secret recipe for making the perfect hamburger bun with you. It’s simple, but it results in the most delicious buns you’ve ever tasted. Whether you go for sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top, these buns are the ultimate base for any burger.
The Perfect Bun Recipe
Ingredients:
- 35 ml of water
- 35 ml of milk
- 170 g of all-purpose flour
- 20 g of butter
- 20 g of sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 7 g of fresh yeast
- Sesame or poppy seeds
Instructions:
- Warm the milk and water in a bowl. Add the sugar and yeast, stirring until everything is dissolved.
- Mix in the melted butter, flour, egg, and salt. Knead the ingredients together until you form a smooth, homogeneous dough.
- Let the dough rise in a bowl covered with plastic wrap for 3 hours.
- Once risen, divide the dough into six balls, making them as smooth and round as possible. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rest in the oven (turned off) for an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. While it heats up, brush the dough balls with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.
- Bake the buns for about 15 minutes at 180°C, until golden brown and delicious.
- Enjoy your freshly baked buns with your favorite fillings!
